SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
- Schedule
- Saturday September 13th 2003 at 09:00: Skippers’ meeting – Briefing in Marina Izola
- Saturday at 12:00 and 12:05 (see part 5) start of the race in vicinity of Marina Izola
- Saturday at 19:00 Awards dinner and dance party
- Eligibility
Open to all monohull yachts that comply with the specified requirements listed in Notice of Race.
- Rules
Race will be held according to
All yachts not complying with these rules will be disqualified and/or penalized according to the rules.
Throughout the regatta, all yachts must display their
national flag, guest’s national flag and category flag (cruising boat or sports boat).
- Competing Classes And Categories
Classes are based on Length OverAll (LOA) as follows:

Yachts will also be divided in two categories: cruising boats and sport boats
in accordance to the above mentioned “Pravilnik o razvrstitvi in organiziranju regat za razred
regatno-potovalnih jadrnic” (JZS).
In case of only one entry in any class/category, the Race Committee may
appropriately assign the single yacht to another class. Cruising and Sport yachts will not be mixed.
- Start in Two Parts and Finish (Sport boats and cruising boats will start separately)
- The starting line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on
the committee boat at the starboard end and the port-end starting mark.
- First, the sport boats will start and 5 minutes after that, the cruising boats.
Starting signal for the sport boats at 12:00 will be at the same time the warning
signal for cruising boats. Therefore, sport boats will start at 12:00 and cruisers
at 12:05.
- The finishing line will be between a staff displaying a blue flag on the
committee boat at the port end and the starboard-end finishing mark.

All signals will also be communicated on VHF channel 69.
- Course for Sport Boats is Different than Course for Cruisers
- Course for sport boats: start-1-2-3-1-3-1-2-3-1-finish.
- Course for cruising boats: start-1-2-3-1-2-finish.
- Before Warning signal green or red flag will be displayed:
- Green flag: All marks must be left to starboard except start and finish (see 5.);
- Red flag: All marks must be left to port except start and finish (see 5.).
- The course will depend on the wind direction so that the first leg should be set to windward.
- The windward mark #1 should be approximately 2 NM from the starting line.

- Recalls
The Race Committee will display flag “X” with one sound and communicate on VHF channel 69.
The flag will be displayed until all early starting boats are completely on the pre-start
side of the starting line or its extensions and have complied with rule 30.1. All
recalled yachts must properly start within 4 minutes after the starting signal or
they will be disqualified and marked OCS. General Recall will be signalled with
two sounds and communicated on the VHF channel 69.
Time limit for starting is 15 minutes after the starting signal. All yachts that will
not properly start within this time limit will be marked DNS.
- Time Limit
The time limit of the race is 5 hours after the starting signal.
- Protests and Redress
Protests and requests for Redress must be submitted in writing using
the appropriate ISAF form. All filled out forms together with a deposit
of 20.000 SIT must be submitted to the Race Committee no later than one
hour after finishing. A boat intending to protest must display a protest
flag until she is no longer racing. Only properly submitted protests and
requests for redress shall be considered as stated in ISAF 2001-2004
Racing Rules of Sailing.
- Awards
Trophies will be awarded by class/category:
- at least two entries in a class/category: 1st place trophy;
- at least four entries in a class/category: 1st and 2st place trophy;
- at least six entries in a class/category: 1st, 2st and 3st place trophy.
1st and 2nd place overall cruising boat category trophy,
1st and 2nd place overall sport boat category trophy,
1st place Diplomat – cruising boat,
1st place Diplomat – sport boat.
A trophy will be awarded also to the first and second boat overall in each
of the categories (cruisers / sport boats) and
to the first Diplomat on each of the categories (cruisers / sport boats).
- Communication, Race Committee and Liability Disclaimer
- Radio communication will be held on VHF channel 69

- All participating skippers and crew agree to hold harmless and to
indemify against any and all liability of losses and/or claims incident
thereto, the organization and/or personnel conducting the race.
